BOOTS RANDOLPH - IN SESSION (W/ORBISON/BRENDA/ELVIS & MORE)
Boots Randolph was the first sax man to operate successfully as a session player in Nashville. He'd arrived in town in 1958, just as Country music was undergoing major metamorphosis towards sweeter, more commercial sounds, in line with R&R, Rockabilly and contemporary Pop. The compilation looks at Boots' early days in Nashville and features him playing on an eclectic set of Country, R&R and Pop sessions, a representative cross section of what was being recorded in Music City at that time. It is a collection of hits, misses and album tracks, plus a couple of his own early instrumentals, notably his signature number, 'Yakety Sax' (aka the closing theme to The Benny Hill Show).
