DAMS OF THE WEST - YOUNGISH AMERICAN

2017 release. Dams of the West is the solo project of Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson. Tomson has also signed with Danger Mouse's 30th Century Records / Columbia to release Dams of the West's debut LP Youngish American. Youngish American was produced by Pat Carney of the Black Keys, and Tomson plays virtually every instrument on the album's 10 tracks. Album highlight, "Death Wish," was released earlier and scored nods from Consequence of Sound, Stereogum, Pitchfork, and Fader, who called it a "spry, life-questioning track." Vampire Weekend formed in 2006. Their third studio album, Modern Vampires of the City (2013), won the group a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2014.
