Part of the Light Mellow presents J-FUSION Renaissance Color Vinyl Reissue Series Vol. 3, this limited first pressing reissue brings back Jun Fukamachi's landmark album Spiral Steps on clear purple vinyl (63-V01). Widely regarded as a pioneering work from the dawn of the J-Fusion movement, the album captures the brilliance and forward-thinking spirit of Fukamachi, then an emerging sound creator, as he embarked on overseas recording sessions earlier than many of his contemporaries. Often viewed as a precursor to his celebrated New York All-Stars projects, the album features New York recording sessions with Randy and Michael Brecker and the late Anthony Jackson, alongside leading Japanese musicians including Shuichi "Ponta" Murakami on drums throughout, Kazumi Watanabe, Rei Ohara, Akira Okazawa, and Jake H. Concepcion. Masayoshi Takanaka also appears on one track, delivering his signature clean-tone lead guitar performance. Produced during a period of rapid musical innovation, Spiral Steps remains a dynamic and influential fusion masterpiece whose creative energy and visionary sound continue to resonate today. The release is part of Universal Music's acclaimed J-FUSION Renaissance campaign, supervised by Toshikazu Kanazawa and issued on color vinyl that complements the album's original artwork.
