Originally released in 2003, Frengers is the third studio album by Mew and the record that established the Danish band on the international stage. It's title combines the words "friend" and "stranger", describing someone who is "not quite a friend but not quite a stranger." Widely regarded as the band's breakthrough release, Frengers blends atmospheric indie rock with progressive influences, combining ambitious arrangements with memorable melodies. The album features the singles 156, Am I Wry? No, and Comforting Sounds, and includes guest vocals from Stina Nordenstam on Her Voice Is Beyond Her Years and 13-year-old Georgia Becky Jarrett on Symmetry. Praised for it's balance of emotional songwriting and expansive musicianship, Frengers remains one of Mew's defining albums and a landmark release in 2000s alternative rock.
